Poinsettia Christmas Tree Skirt

This past weekend I spent a good chunk of my time working on a Christmas tree skirt. I had written a previous post regarding my options and though many said they liked the ruffled skirt I ended up deciding against it. Simply because I've been seeing a lot of these ruffled skirts and didn't want to make a trendy skirt that I would only like this season. I wanted to try something new, create my own design. So after spending an hour in the fabric store I decided on something completely different, a felt poinsettia skirt.
It took me the better part of Saturday to get most of the skirt done. Since I didn't have a pattern I sort of guessed what I was doing which was to my own downfall. In the end the skirt wasn't large enough around so I  had to add some length later which caused it to not sit flat like I wanted. Regardless I enjoyed the process of making this skirt and know for next time what to do and not to do.
My favorite part was spending a couple hours on Sunday working on the felt poinsettia flowers. It was a very relaxing process.
In the end I quite like my new Christmas tree skirt. It'll look much better once it's raised and covering the tree. For now here's a simple photo of the end result. I can't wait to get my home decorated with lights and the tree so then I can show you guys a real lovely photo of the skirt.
