My Back Alley

Most of my friends and family know that Jonathan and I will be moving to a new city next weekend. These plans have been in the makings for a while now but it's now finally starting to set in. We've begun to pack and we are having a small farewell party tomorrow. It's becoming almost too official.

After a short rainfall yesterday evening I decided to walk down our familiar back alley to see if I could snag a few flowers that sometimes spill over from neighbouring yards. I figure if the flowers are growing in the alley then they must be free for the taking. It was during this very quick walk that I began to realize how much I'd even miss this alley. It's not the pretties of places but it's always filled with characteristic items and thankfully lots of flowers.
There's a lot of things I'll miss about my current city, mostly the relationships Jonathan and I have built, my very close friends, church and so much more. But it's also these small familiar things like a back alley with flowers for the taking that may always have a special spot in my heart.

But isn't that what life is about, making room in your heart for new places, memories and friends.

On an unrelated note while I was looking for some flowers I took a photo of myself in a dress I made from my earlier spring collection, The Honey Line. It's one of the few pieces I kept and I find I wear this dress a lot. Very simple but super comfortable.

super cute dress! you look lovely in it too. it's always sad moving away from somewhere, especially a place you're grown to love, but i think you're right about making places in your heart for new things and experiences is a part of life. good luck with the move!

Great idea. We have a paper alley too, I might have to look for some free flowers.

I love how you can find beauty everywhere... like random flowers hidden in a back alley.
