Weekend of Sewing

This past weekend was set aside for getting a good start on a few of the garments I'm hoping to sell in a future Etsy store. I can't believe how quickly time has flown by and it's honestly scaring me that with some big life changes in the near future that I simply won't have time or energy to really go through with the Etsy store. So right now I'm determined to get all that I can done before the end of June. It should be an interesting new few weeks.
One major highlight from the weekend was getting a new (new to me) serger! Jonathan was in Medicine Hat for the night so he was able to pick it up and bring it back for me. After playing around with my new Bernette machine I got straight to work on the piles of garment pieces all needing serging. It a great feeling to finally have most of the essentials for a basic sewing studio.
Even though it felt like a long weekend I loved every moment of it. I often wondered how I'd be able to adjust to sewing at home with out all the nice industry standard equipment and tools I used at the college. But now that I'm getting the hang of things I'm feeling confident that this may just work out.
Over all I'll say it was a super successful weekend of sewing. Now I just have to buckle down for the remainder of this month and get what I can done.

I didn't know you were starting a store on Etsy!! I can't wait to see it. I'm totally jealous of your serger. Drool....Oh and I love the fabric of whatever you're using in the pic w/the sewing machine. Can't wait to see what you're cooking up!

Even just a few little glimpses of items you're working on in these pics are enough to confirm for me that you most definitely have to open your Etsy store :) That bird and feather print fabric is gorgeous. And I'm not quite sure what a serger is but it sounds exciting nonetheless so congrats on acquiring one :)

Oh, yay, that's so exciting! Let me know if you need any help getting started on Etsy - I've had my shop open for four years now and learned A LOT.

xx.

I love that little sneak peek of a dress (or skirt) in the last picture. It looks beautiful.

That bird print looks amazing! I totally know what you mean about taking on the commitment of an Etsy store, I started my vintage shop there last summer. Sometimes it does add stress, but the great thing about it, is you are free to put things up only when YOU have time! No one is looking over you and there are no real deadlines. I say go for it girl!
