I feel like I've been spending a lot of time at the college working on pattern drafting, sewing samples, making adjustments and re-drafting my spring collection. There's so much work that has to be put in before I can actually begin sewing the final garment pieces. All this work sometimes leads to major frustration on my part but I have to remind myself that this is a skill that takes time and I need all the practice I can get.
I'll admit that I'm afraid I won't have enough confident once graduation comes along to actually do the things I dreamed about doing. Yet once again I'm trying to keep positive and remember, (sorry for the cheesy saying) Rome wasn't built in a day. I can see my skills drastically improving and choosing to do my own collection was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. It's given me the opportunity to face many challenges and either with the help of other or by remembering past lessons, I'm able to figure out solutions and work in different techniques to get the garment to where it needs to be. Today I can say I'm incredibly proud of myself and though there's still a lot more learning and work ahead I'm happy with where I am.
I can't wait to show you guys my full spring collection!
