Marriage, Love and Fun: Nessa

Well here we are, another Thursday. Goodness how the weeks fly by.

Today I'm thrilled to post another Marriage, Love and Fun feature and this week it's written by Nessa from The Absurd Tales of Casa Braaflat. She's a beautiful women, wife and mother of two cute little boys and has a life filled with fun adventures and tales that she writes about in her blog. She's such a great writer for her own post and today's no exception with her marital advice. So, after readings today's feature make sure to check out her blog to say hello and get to know her more.

1)   Tell us about how you and Tyler met.
We are high school sweeties so we go back a lot of years. In fact I think we first met when we were about 13 & 14 years old. Tyler and my younger brother have been friends since they were in 7th grade. I guess you could say I have my brother to thank for bringing us together. If they hadn’t been friends, we would have never met. Tyler and I grew to be friends and then started dating when we were 16 & 17 years old. I was a senior in high school and he was a sophomore. Scandalous. We loved each other when we were young and awkward, so I figure we can certainly love the wrinkles and forgetfulness when we are 100, too.

2) What's been one or some of the unexpected challenges you were faced at the beginning of your marriage?
In the beginning our work schedules were not compatible. Sometimes we were like ships passing in the night. But we always made the best of the time we had together. And we had been dating for 7 years before we got married so there wasn’t really an adjusting period for us.

3) Now the good stuff, how have you kept the romance alive in your marriage?
It’s hard to carve out time for each other with two littles but we definitely keep it a priority. Even if it’s just watching a movie together after we get the boys to bed. We both share the love of travel so we try to take a getaway as often as we can without the kiddos. It’s pretty amazing to just relax with your love for a few days. In 2010 it was Arizona and this year we are going to NYC.
Making memories as a couple is so important. When you are running on no sleep (because of the babes) and haven’t showered for 3 days you can still look at your partner and remember that time you went parasailing in Jamaica or walked 5 miles to your hotel in Vegas, and smile.

4) Any advice you want to give to newly couples?
I think the key to a good marriage is mutual respect. And waiting a few years to add littles to the mix. We had Tate after 4 years of marriage and that time we had together, just as a couple, was priceless.
