The Weekend of Sewing

Oh goodness, what a silly, busy weekend I had. I can say in all truth I'm so thankful that it's Monday.

I found I spent a great deal of time at in the sewing lab at the college just trying to cut out patterns for upcoming projects and started sewing a muslin for a future dress assignment. All went fairly well until I had the bodice portion of the dress complete and discovered it was way to large for the size I had intended. Something must have went wrong in the drafting but I couldn't figure out what it was. I was so frustrated it almost brought me to tears.

As much as I love sewing and learning the trade I'm finding it requires a lot of patients and willingness to do things over and over and over again to get something right.

Even though it was a busy weekend, Saturday evening Jonathan had a fun idea of having a "sleep over" upstairs in our living room. Heck yes! So he carried up a mattress, made the bed, rented a movie and we cozied up for the night.

Sadly though after the movie Jonathan wanted to watch Saturday Night Live, as he always likes to, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. I ended up having to return back downstairs to our bed to fall asleep. When I woke up the next morning I found Jonathan sleeping next to me, blankets all put back in place and somehow he was even able to put the mattress away.

I felt horrible for ruining our date night because I was so tired. Yet at the same time I felt so loved that Jonathan returned to our bed to sleep with me and even cleaned up the living room just for me. (That's my weak spot....when he cleans. I know it's silly but it's true.)

So like I said it was a crazy busy week with sewing but the time I spent with Jonathan made my weekend extra special.

So sweet! Sometimes Ryan + I make a blanket fort and sleep in it for the night while we listen to spooky tales. Special little events like this keep things exciting :)

xx.
