What a wonderful weekend we had! So much happened that I could probably spend an hour just typing up everything and uploading pics but I don't have the time or the patience for that. The huge thing I want to write about was Jonathan's surprise half birthday party I was finally able to pull off on Saturday. Yet sadly that will have to wait for maybe tomorrow, that is once I get the pictures on my computer.
For now I can tell you about our delightful date night we had Friday evening out at Henderson Park to watch the opening ceremonies for the Dragon Boat Festival.
It was incredibly windy that evening (actually it was windy all weekend which probably made it tough for those actually in the boats) but we still enjoyed our time. There's always a tone of food booths at events like these so we bought our supper, hamburgers and an ice cream cone and listened to a musician playing on the stand.
After walking around we grabbed some seats and watched the ceremony parts. It was basically only speeches but we stayed because we wanted to see the dragon dance. Finally we were rewarded with a short of fun "awakening the dragon" dance thing. Of course it was not huge scale show but over all something different and fun to watch.
We didn't stay too much longer than that and because of the wind we were rather exhausted by the end of the night.
How I love date nights with Jonathan.
