…a piece of cake

I’ve discovered that creating those picturesque cakes on magazines, bridal shower books and even simple “how to decorate your cake” books are really not at all simple and in all truth not at all...a piece of cake!!!! My morning consisted of walking up energized with the idea that today I would decorated my flopped cake, from a previous cake baking trial, so to practice for a much more important farewell cake planned to be created on a latter date. I first mixed a batch (premixed and store bough) cake powered and stuck that in the oven. Only this time I read the instructions and found that even though you add half a cup of oil one still must butter the pan’s bottom, or else once again the cake will turn into a practice run. Next I went onto the icing, which to my dismay found that the small bag of icing would be almost completely empty just to cover the cake in it basic white coat. Nonetheless I scrapped out enough to create separate colors and with my new piping bags and tips and created a masterpiece!!!!! Well close enough. Mind you the cake is obviously lopsided for one side of the double laid cake has no top only a bottom layer due to my difficulties with, as I mentioned before, of not putting any butter on the bottom of the pan. In any case my second attempt cakes turn out wonderfully and yes came out with easy due to the added buttered bottoms. In all I believe I have had a fulfilling morning with the exception of the over extended indulgent of icing and the fact that I have one chocolate, double layered, majestically iced, cake sitting on the kitchen counter.
